A new Zune promo video is out on the wild. Don't worry this is not Zune-Arts style and doesn't remind the two new Zune TV ads either. According to the producer from Digital Kitchen Jill Johns (who was kind enough to answer a few questions for me), this one was created for an internal Zune presentation event, which took place in early November... |

Walmart is the first online store which has available the Zune 80 player. Checking a few others either don't say anything about when it is expected or in case of Amazon it says availability will begin on December 16th . If you find any other online store with Zune 80 available let me know! EDIT: OK, forget them. Walmart is out of stock again... |

Sounds like the end of Zune 80 out-of-stock season starting from Zune Originals. Starting from today Zune 80 gets available for customization. As with Zune 4 & 8, laser engravings on the back help so "You Make it You" even the outside of the players. Have fun... |

If you check the "whois" info about the domain name Zune.com , you can clearly see that it now belongs to Microsoft, as it points to the company's DNS servers. Zune team preferred, until now, to go with .net domains . The last change I noticed on it was back on November 2006, when just before Zune 30 release it was displaying "www.zune.com is coming" ... |

A few people on the official forums have issues with battery life after updating their Zune 30s to v2 Firmware. Zune doesn't charge correctly and although it says its fully charged after a few hours the battery dies. I don't think its a very common issue but if you have it see how you can try to fix it... |

Reading yesterday that Zune 80 has a shorter battery life than expected, I started searching about official info on the issue. Microsoft has released a support article describing the procedure used to test the battery life on Zune 4&8, 30 and 80 players... |

According to Crave Blog who has information from the C|Net Labs, Zune 80 doesn't have the expected 30 hours music playback time Microsoft announced. The announcement was based on pre-production units, so we were not expecting it to be precise but from 30 hours to 22 measured by C|Net and 24 measured by GotZune (Mobility Site) there is a gap. Of course battery life is a complex issue and there is no single way of measuring it... |

This Zune 80 although it was feeling great, didn't avoid the surgery table of RapidRepair. Those guys didn't stop just at opening but took everything apart and posted high-res photos of the device guts (call me chipset). As you can see the poor Zune 80 was still not drugged when the operation started, for God's shake ... |

Or the Zune Christmas Miracle - use any title you like. The fact is Zune ranked in No2 sales position after Nintendo Wii this Thanksgiving - Black Friday days. According to InfoWorld Americans spent $800 million in online shopping these two days and according to PriceGrabber, eBay and Shopping.com Zune ranked in this high position. The data come not from sales but from online search results for products. And I'm reading today is Cyber Monday (?!) ... |

Today C|Net TV has a live show today dedicated to what else? Tech products for Black Friday. Watching it for a few minutes I noticed this is really the Zune's day. Maybe not the new Zune players' day but definitely the Zune 30 with the various deals on many retailers with up to 60% discounted prices is a best seller. Retailers representatives like Buy.com mentioned it with as the choice of many consumers... |

Zune 30 apparently has made it to Canada. You can find it on many retailers in many colors. Canada as anyone would expect is the first country to find Zune outside USA. I don't know if this is the beginning of the official release of Zune outside USA, as Zune 4, 8 or 80 players are still not available. And another question is what will happen with Zune Marketplace which is blocked for people outside USA? Read more details below... |

We lived long enough to read this! CNN Money reports customers lining up to buy Zune in Manhattan's Toys 'R' Us store in Times Square since yesterday midnight. Toys 'R' Us has one of the best deals available ever for Zune. This Black Friday you can buy the last year's Brown Zune 30 model, for only $79.99 while the suggested price from Microsoft is $199.99 . Of course you can find it in other places too for less than $100 if you look closer... |

The Zune team has posted a flash animation which will help you understand how the new touch-control available on Zune 4, 8 & 80 works before you buy one of these. It has two modes: normal 5-way click mode, like the one on Zune 30, and touch mode where you can nice and easy scroll up-down and left-right slowly or move your finger fast and it will keep scrolling until the control is pressed again... |

After the Zune 30 release last year I remember Steve Jobs mentioning Zune in his keynotes quite a few times. He liked the comparison of the 3% Zune's Marketshare to the 70% or so of the iPods. Now after the Zune 2 release it's FakeSteve's job to keep up with the coverage. He likes posting FakeZune Originals (Steve Ballmer editions preffered - pants off available too!). Today he has also an exclusive photo as an explanation to the high Zune latest sales... |
