Total Crap

Over a year later there has been no news, no website, no forum and all the content of this "Mys Videl" has just disappeared.

Total hoax, it is a shame that after a year nothing has been done for this project, looks like the majority of the crowd still lies with ipod. Sad but true. - jackdd

Actually I am pretty happy with the current gui so if the linux os could perfectly replicated the ZUNE os I would be happy. Here is how you can fix the zune to be PERFECT to me.

#1 USB Mass Storage access. Absolutely NO software needed ESPECIALLY ZUNE software .net windows update etc.. I want simply no driver no cd no download USB Mass Storage spec access to the entire device.

#2 NO DRM limits whatsoever on wifi's material that is NOT drm'd to begin with. IF the content is already DRM'd they can apply any limits they want to it.

#3 That top horizontal scrolling list? (albums artists etc..) I want one called FOLDER where it simply displays the "mp3" folder on the Hard Drive (or whatever the music folder is called) and I see my "folders" the content of a folder "is" an album to the zune. Simple Easy Clean no more headaches with the zune software fabricating non existent "album artists" ID3 tags that make it a nightmare to build albums from various artists.

#4 Album art for PODCASTS and the ability to ORGANIZE the podcasts section with folders to separate the content.

#5 BUILT IN RSS ability. ie the ability for the ZUNE ITSELF to "sync" podcasts (video and audio) WITHOUT the need for a computer. NO ZUNE software for this. a simple bookmark to a proper RSS feed dragged and dropped into the appropriate "rss" folder on the zune and the zune tries to sync to that all by itself no computer needed on any open wifi connection. THAT would be one "killer app"

Thats it. I would be TOTALLY happy otherwise with the ZUNE hardware and interface. I actually like the Zune 30 look and feel better than the Zune 80's (I have big hands so I do not consider the Zune 30 to be big its "just right" for me. I love the feel and texture too. - Chris Taylor Jr

Mys Videl is not a programmer for Zune Linux, only a debugger. To help debug a program you could just as well be a tester and find the glitches rather than a programmer / debugger. The only thing that annoys me about this is the 'top-secrecy' they've put on this project. Linux is supposed to be open to the public to build and maintain. - Breen

she's just angling for fame by making sensationalist comments.. i've seen her post in another forum asking someone to teach her programming.. Putting a completely different OS into a hardware device like the Zune is pretty difficult stuff and can never be achieved by a mediocre programmer..

The topic you mentioned has been found and is being discussed by several efnet groups. this appears to be nothing more than a publicity stunt in order to generate revenue from banner ads. - #EFoxtrot

About this article

<b>Mys Videl</b>: I can't tell which part of your comment is about me and which about U3Hacker.

I personally found the thread you posted your Linux-on-Zune project on ZuneBoards (I have the link). It is a public forum, so I wrote an article (3-4 sentences) and the rest is c/p from that thread (things you wrote!).

I don't know if the screenshot "U3Hacker" posted here is from your PC and for sure I didn't post it! (If I understand correctly, you confirm its from your PC).

If you don't want to be afraid of your code and ideas get stolen, the best way is to publish it NOW under GPL license. This would be also the best way to convince the open source community you really have something there.

Open source projects don't get published as ready-to-run solutions. Someone writes a few lines of code at the beginning and the community then helps. (By the way if you hack the Linux kernel and publish a firmware, you are forced by the GPL license to publish its source code).

... And you can't tell me what kind of articles I will write in the future :) - Zune-Online.com

You're submitting images of me trying to find a better way to sync the Linux OS up to the Zune -.-. They aren't going to be able to verify anything except that that is a debugger, the zune software, Firefox, and a few other programs. Anyway, as I said. I prefer not to have this very public yet. Please don't write more articles over it. - Mys Videl
