Zune 80 TV out has been a detail which has changed quite a few times the last weeks. But here it is again. According to many new articles in the Microsoft knowledge base, Zune 80 will support only NTSC TV-out (near DVD-quality), the format used in North America. But in Europe and other places the system used is PAL. Is it safe to assume Microsoft doesn't intend to release Zune, or at least Zune 80, worldwide? Zune 4 & 8 on the other hand don't support TV out at all, so its a non-issue for them...
Read the article about troubleshooting Zune Dock v2 . Here is the interesting part:
1. If you cannot see any video output from the Zune device, follow these steps: | a. | Make sure that you are using a supported device. Only Zune 30GB and Zune 80GB have the TV out feature. | | b. | Confirm that you are using the correct TV system. To do this, follow these steps:| 1. | From the home screen, select settings, and then press the center of the Zune pad. | | 2. | Select display, and then press the center of the Zune pad. | | 3. | Select TV system, and then press the center of the Zune pad to change it to NTSC or to PAL. If your TV is manufactured for North America, set this to NTSC. Only Zune 30GB supports PAL. |

OK, then I'll have to revise this article about the Zune 80 TV out once more. P.S. yes on Sundays I like reading MS knowledge articles EDIT: Or is it? Microsoft takes Zune Originals very seriously? (Many ZuneOriginals domains registered in .com and countries TLDs.) Related articles: Zune gets a DVD quality TV out! Video: C|Net Reviews Zune 80
