The latest version of the Zune Software is available for free to download from the official Zune website:
http://www.zune.net/en-us/meetzune/software.htm

Many of you have requested the Zune Software CD version. So here is a torrent to download the Zune Software from:

-----
EDIT: This torrent is dead. I'll let you know if I find an alternative
http://www.zune-online.com/torrents/isoHunt_Zune_Software_full.rar.torrent
-----

You will need a bittorrent client to download the Software using this "torrent" file. After downloading it extract the ZuneSetup.zip file which contains the Zune CD files. I have verified ZuneSetup.zip (using MD5 hashes) contains the same files as my CD so you don't need to worry about viruses etc. Ignore the rest content in there.

--------
You may need WinRar (or any other .rar files extractor) to extract the ZuneSetup.zip file.

μtorrent is a very good and light bittorent client. You can also go for the best available and try Azureus (requires Java, you can download the "JRE" from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp if you don't have it)

Shocked I am running Windows Vista, I downloaded from the following link the software http://www.zune.net/en-us/meetzune/software.htm

When I start the installation it checks for updates and it terminates by saying "No Updates available".

So I then followed the suggestion of your Forum to download the Full Version and downloaded it from the bittorrent that you provided, but then when I start the installation it says "Your operating system is not supported you need to upgrade either Windowss or Zune software" and it sends me to the link available on zune.net website.

How am I going to fix this bug?  Shocked Huh

Thanks

This torrent will not work on Windows Vista. To make it work use this patch:
http://www.zune-online.com/news/zune/patch-zune-to-run-on-vista.html
But I discourage you from doing this, its quite old by now.

I've seen others who have problems with the newer version of Zune Software installation program and Vista, but I don't know what the reason might be.
Please check the Event Viewer of Vista for any Zune related errors and try installing all the latest updates from the Windows Update.

Thanks, it finally works with my Italian Windows Vista.

What I did is I downloaded the patch tu run the old version, then modified the executable to run in XP-SP2 mode and finally I was able to run the software.

Also when it starts it prompts for updates and downloads automatically the firmware v1.4, so I guess it is up to date even if I installed the old version, isn't it?

Thanks again

The firmware was updated to version 1.4, but I don't think the Software was updated to the last version v1.3 . Try to update it manually using the check for updates in Options -> help

You need Win XP with SP, MCE 2005 of Win Vista. If you don't have English Windows, check also this:

I see that the torrent's tracker is currently unavailable. The tracker is the server which coordinates the users who have or want to download the file to send it to each other.

If you use Azureus, utorrent or any other client which supports the DHT system, enable it. I believe it will get the job done. DHT is decentralized tracking system which helps when a torrent's tracker is offline.

First of all try to use the Zune Software from www.zune.net , don't use any of the above. If that fails then start trying them. You know the problem is if something is not working like it should. Thats when you'll need to know what's under the hood Wink

Okay. I've downloaded the .rar successfully; but how do I install it without updating to Zune 2.1 when it's looking for updates?
I just want the original software as it was.
When I try using the alternative installer it says:
Zune Installer should not be executed outside ZuneSetup.exe
and ZuneSetup.exe installs Zune 2.1

Any work arounds?

Microsoft has stopped supporting Zune Software v1. You should install the v2 ...
