Zune player seems to have a bug in its firmware. It appears with some purchased tracks from the Zune MarketPlace at their beginning. The player skips the track for a fraction of a second and continues again. The same doesn't apply for non-DRM songs. Have you seen this ? EDIT: According to the Zune team the skipping problem will be fixed with the v1.3 Firmware update in Mid-March as well as some other problem too. Read more: Zune Firmware v1.3 fixes skipping

Yes - I do. I'm going to call Microsoft to file an official request for a fix. I thought it might be the hard drive / device but it's very possible there's a firmware solution.
It doesn't happen with all songs. And it doesn't happen when I hit NEXT, only when the song changes tracks after playing through an entire previous track.

Highlights on the conversation. - Known issue.
- A "few calls" regarding the problem.
- Keep an eye on zune.net for more information.
- A solution should be "coming shortly" (but the CSR has no idea really if a solution is forthcoming or not).
No workarounds. If you play the song once or skip around to the song, apparently the problem doesn't present itself. Only if you play through the songs and when you haven't listened to the songs during that "session". I haven't tested all the scenarios myself but it is annoying since I bought my Zune primarily for Zune Pass. Looks like I'll have to deal with it until a fix is out. I'm not willing to use my iPod again. Plus my Powerbook was stolen so I have no way of downloading the songs again from iTunes - apparently you can't download songs more than once even if you paid for them on iTunes. OK, I'll keep an eye on it also.
I've read Zune MarketPlace lets you re-download tracks you've bought in case you lose these. I didn't know iTunes won't let you!

Many people are having this issue. The only known workaround is if you set your display backlight to "always on". This only happens on the DMR tracks. I have 2500 and mine all do it. It's rather annoying but the backlight is the only workaround that I know of.

Yes I have the 1.2 firmware upgrade and the skipping still happens and the only way to not make it skip is to have the backlight set to always on. You only get about 4 hours of battery life if you do that.

Actually - it's MUCH better. Instead of 30 seconds of random gaps, stutters, and skipping - it's dramatically better.
I get two <0.5 sec pauses within the first 5 seconds. It's just a fraction of a second each time. Sometimes only 1 pause, sometimes both, but never more. I've also seen the frequency of the problem lessen - but it still happens.
Hopefully they completely fix it next time.
Come'on djmetsandy, that's not completely practical. I agree with DRM only because I wouldn't want someone stealing my life's work. I disagree with the RIAA's philosphy of blaming everyone else and I disagree with almost every decision they've made but I can't blame the artists or Microsoft. We're stuck playing RIAA's and MPAA's game except for those poineers out there (like DVD Jon) that remind us how much these rules truly do suck.
I'm glad Apple started a huge shift towards paying just for the songs you want - that was the last time I paid $10-15 for 2 songs. And now Microsoft is pushing us towards the era of listening to whatever we want. I really want one subscription of music for any location (PC, Zune, Car in-dash, Home stereo, download from XBox Marketplace, etc).
For someone with a Netflix account, who pays for XM Radio, and enjoys unrestricted access to what I want when I want it - I love my Zune Pass. $15 isn't too much to ask for.
But don't get me started on jacking the price for HD DVDs and content... stupid execs.
