I am having trouble trying to install the Zune driver on my PC.  This is a bran new installation on my PC; I have never had a Zune.  When I connect the Zune to the PC, the PC recognizes it.  I have Tried automatically search for drivers, or manually install the drivers and the following happens it appears the driver is being installed...a message appears about backing up drivers and the I get the following

If you've called Zune support, I suppose they've asked you if you have a supported Windows installation (Win XP with SP2, MCE 2005, Vista) ? Let's assume thats not the problem.

Have you tried installing it from the CD and from the www.zune.net newer version?

Are you an administrator on that PC?

If you have installed the Zune Software, when your Windows asks you for a Zune driver point it to: c:\Program files\Zune.inf

Yes to all of the above.  I was on the phone 2 hours with Zune support and got no where!!  I have confirmed the Zune device works, a friend of mine upgraded the firmware (After Zune support made me erase it with a reset)  I have reinstalled media player 11 twice and the zune software twice.  I am the admin of the PC

Do see your Zune normally listed under the Device Manager on your Windows? Does it have a question mark?
This could mean a possible drivers conflict.

After the install it will be listed with an exclamation with the status that the drivers are not installed correctly

Probably you've got installed drivers for another device which conflict with Zune. A case I've read before is with a PS3 control driver (if I remember correct). Something like libsub driver? Does it ring any bells ?

EDIT: I found the thread I was talking you about:

I finally got it to work (3rd call to support and 6 hours of my time on the phone with Zune Support + my own web searches)  I Uninstalled the desktop Zune (Which I did before)  Also (here is the key) I uninstalled the Microsoft User-mode driver frame work (My hunch the missing UDMF files previously stated)  Deleted all files in working temp (%temp%)  and reinstall Zune Desktop application.  The device connected. This fubar might have been partially my fault  I installed the desktop zune for my xbox 360 5 months ago before I actually bought the device.  Install might have been messed up from that.   Thanks for your previous leads
