Hi i´m from mexico, i went to las vegas last week and bought a zune, since sunday i´ve been trying to install the software but it stops at 95% and sends me an error, I´ve been in the microsoft support web page and tried all the probable sollutions, i´ve created the groups USERS and INTERACTIVE and i´ve added to it, tha works cus the error code changed, but now the error has changed, it tells me this:
Product: Zune -- Error 1402. Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\WMPTheme.WMPSkinMngr. System error 5. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
Please help me

i´ve done that procedure of the microsoft support and it doesn´t work, i would never thought that a microsoft product would give me a lot of problems, so sad  im going to try more things, thanks |

after 4 days i finally did it, right now i´m sychronizing my zune, uff!! i was so scared and dissapointed, because when i went to vegas I was looking for a zune but it was sold out, so when i was almost paying a 30gb ipod, my brother saved me cus he found one zune, jaja, it was really funny, it was so close, so when i came to mexico and all the problems began i was so dissapointed but now everything is fixed, thanks a lot

How did you fix it ?
Zune was sold out in Las Vegas ? Thats the most strange thing I've heard for a long time! Zune price has been reduced in the last months. This usually means its not a best seller and there is enough availability to retailers!

at least at the mall i searched i only found it in one store, cus in gamestop was sold out, also in other electronics shop, thats why i was going to buy an ipod, but i was luck and found a zune in a store called futuretronics, cus now that i can use it i love it, i think its much better than an ipod, just a personal opinion, the only thing i regret is that i would love to have a red zune (i have it in black) but i didnt know that it existed till i came to this webpage, anyway i have it and it works great! jaja
I hope someday microsoft enables the zune marketplace service for users outside of the US, and also that the wifi function could be used to syncronize.

How did i fixed the problem?
Well i just followed the steps Kostas gave me, i had to create the groups USERS and INTERACTIVE (INTERACTIVO for xp in spanish) and then just add my user to those groups.
But after that another error came, error code 1402 cannot acces key Hkeymachine.....etc., to fiz that i searched on the support area at zune.net, you have to enter to the "regedit" and give access to your user to access that key, to do this you need administrator rights on windows, after that the problem was fixed.
Be carefull that the user you give access to the key is the same that you added to the groups USERS and INTERACTIVE, because i did that wrong and thats why it took me 4 days to install zune software.

Did you use INTERACTIVO instead of INTERACTIVE or did you create that group ?

okay now i am really confused! i have windows vista and i am trying to figure out where is this greek and german coming from? Is that the language or what? Because I have english so how can I download Zune without the CD???  |
