According to Reuters, EMI will release a large portion of its music catalog in online retailers which sell unprotected MP3 tracks. EMI had tried selling DRM-free MP3s of Norah Jones and Lily Allen and the results were positive...
"The results have been positive," the EMI spokeswoman said, adding, "lack of operability between a proliferating range of devices and hardware and the digital platforms for delivering music is more and more becoming an issue for music consumers and EMI has been engaging with our various partners to find a solution."
Everything shows that DRM-free retailers will get off the underground in 2007!
While talking about an interoperability check also the announced PlayReady DRM of Microsoft.
