One of the dreams of kids from the "dark side" of the Zune community was to sync Zune using 3rd party applications like Windows Media Player 11 or Winamp. Considering Zune Software v2 has much less advanced features than v1 PityOnU (CongratsToU for doing it!), a member of ZuneBoards, managed to "hijack" the sync connection and created zAlternator to enable the use of programs such as WMP11 and Winamp, to sync with Zune...
This hack / mod will allow you to install support for Asian Languages - Korean, Japanese and Chinese - on your Zune. It was also done some days ago but it required to open your Zune and use an adapter to access it's hard-drive. Below is the Software-only solution.
A new hack allowing users to view the contents of their Zune on Windows Media Player 11 appeared. As you may know, Zune Software is a skinned WMP11 installation with some restrictions and some security systems added. Because of them you can't (yet) sync your Zune or access the Zune Marketplace from WMP11...
A new hack is available which enables the Zune Software to convert many unsupported audio video and photo formats to the Zune's native. Zune Software won't be able to play these types still, but the important part is the conversion.
Zune Player is not visible from windows explorer but only within the Zune Software. If you haven't noticed Zune Software looks like Windows Media Player 11 with a cool black-silver skin. And thats not the end of it. The driver used is the same and guess what, you can just enable it to show Zune as a normal removable drive. Not fully functional though.
Thats too good to last for long. Giving Zune a folder with photos to transfer through Wifi, it only checks the first 3-4 if they are real photos. But the rest of them can be any files with .jpg extension.
The above USB hack is a prerequisite. Then delete the entries in your Zune about the transfered song. You can transfer it again this way.
Zune Software is able to partially support divx and mpeg videos. A registry hack to view .avi files is needed or a renaming in the file. You can't play it with the Software but you can sync it to Zune!
