Adweek talks with Zune's partner Tag chief strategist, Mike Harris, and Zune's Senior Advertising Manager, Jack Oh, about the new "You Make it You" campaign. We should expect a new similar TV clip, this time with a young man in a bus falling into his Zune. Also if in NYC keep an eye on Times Square's ads because the print version will also be displayed there. Jack Oh says the new campaign will cost Microsoft more than twice as much as the first year, which was estimated at $25 million...
From Adweek : [...] The effort, a shift from last year's "Welcome to the social" launch campaign from 72andSunny in Los Angeles, aims "to let people know that Zune is on parity with iPod, yet more than a fashion statement, that it is the only alternative to iPod," said Tag partner and chief strategist Mike Harris. [...] A second spot shows a young man on a bus falling similarly into a gallery, his friends and social network streaming into the hallway after him. [...] According to Nielsen Monitor-Plus, Microsoft spent $25 million onn Zune ads from the product's launch last November through August 2007. Oh estimated new campaign spending will be more than twice as much as last year.
The print version of the ad (see it in more detail):
The first spot of the new campaign is already an air. It is called the Ballad of Tina Pink. Soundtrack is Lake Michigan by Rogue Wave (more info):
