You should know that either with an old or new player you'll have to visit www.zune.net/setup to get updated or run the "check for updates" command from the current Zune Software. There is not anything else you need to know, the process is automatic from then on. Read the articles after the jump...

How to update to the current Zune device software version

To install the current Zune device software, follow these steps:

1.If you are a new Zune customer, install the Zune software that was included with the Zune device or visit http://www.zune.net/setup (http://www.zune.net/setup) to obtain and install the software.

If you are an existing customer, update the Zune software by clicking Help on the Options menu and then by clicking Check for Updates. If you do not see the Options menu, you already have the current version installed.
2.Connect the Zune device to a Windows-based computer by using the Zune sync cable. Use a USB port on the back of the computer. Do not use a USB hub.

After I installed Zune management software ver 2, my PC stopped recognizing Zune 30.
written by Merrill, November 13, 2007
After I installed Zune management software ver 2, my PC stopped recognizing Zune 30. Initially I freaked out, but after reading an article on Microsoft.com website, I followed Method 2 described above and voila, everything worked!
I am blown away by how much better the new software / firmware is. It looks much better, it's much, much easier to use, and, most importantly, it works better! (one of my mp3 files would crash Zune 30 before - now it plays perfectly.) It's like a bought a whole new Zune!! I love it!!
P.S. Zune finally displays cyrillic - whoorrrrayyy!!
P.P.S. Microsoft: It's things like free upgrade to firmware 2.2 that create legions of loyal and grateful fans of your company - keep it up!!

I agree with Adam K--save that I can't use the wireless sync option. It connects to the router, but when it tries to connect to my pc, the pc alerts me that the wireless driver is not installed. Sure enough, when I go into device manager, there is a yellow exclamation mark. It disappears, however, I moment that I reconnect my Zune 30.

Anyone have an answer or a suggestion.

BTW, I learned that I had to lower my security on my router in order for the Zune 30 to connect properly to my router. If you have a Zune 30 and it can't see your router, this may be the reason.
