iPodMods changes to RapidRepair Print E-mail

Rapid RepairPopular online iPod repair and mod site iPodMods.com has announced its name change to Rapid Repair in light of an expansion of service offerings that extends far beyond iPod enhancements...

The iPodMods - RapidRepair announcement:

Beginning Tuesday, April 24, 2007, popular iPod repair and mod site iPod Mods will officially change its name to Rapid Repair and launch its new website at http://www.rapidrepair.com.  The change comes as the result of the company’s rapid expansion into product and service offerings that now extend past iPod product repairs and modifications.

“With the increased popularity of Microsoft’s Zune player has come an increased demand for repairs and custom mods for Apple’s rival player.  We’re now offering a lot of the same services for the Zune, such as battery replacement, screen repair and custom mods, as we are for the iPod,” says Aaron Vronko, Service Manager of Rapid Repair.

Vronko says that LCD screen repairs and battery replacements account for more than 50% of the 500+ weekly service requests.  He says screen repairs, which account for about 27% of all orders, are in particularly high demand because Apple does not offer a screen repair service and in fact will void the entire warranty because of a broken screen.

Battery replacements, which total about 25% of all repair orders, are driven by the fact that neither Apple nor Microsoft has designed their music players with customer-replaceable batteries.  The iPod and the Zune are designed in such a way that requires that the device be dismantled in order to replace the battery.

Though Apple’s battery replacement difficulties have been widely talked about in online tech circles, Microsoft’s Zune player poses similar difficulties in battery replacement, accounting for a surge in new business beyond the scope of the iPod.

Rapid Repair also offers 100GB hard drive modifications for both players, which has become particularly popular among Zune owners whose players come standard with 30GB hard drives.  “The 100 gig hard drive is definitely our number one mod request followed by color mods and battery upgrades,” says Vronko.

The once iPod only repair and mod site will also begin offering service for the Apple iPhone which is scheduled for launch in late June or early July.  “With the old name, people didn’t necessarily know about all of the different technologies we now service.  The new name focuses on our primary goal after quality which is speed.  We are as addicted to our technology as our customers and make it a priority to repair and return equipment as quickly as possible.”

About Rapid Repair:  Rapid Repair (http://www.rapidrepair.com), formerly known as iPodMods, is a leading online repair and mod company for Apple iPods, Microsoft Zune players, and the upcoming iPhone.
