I've been contacted by many of you in the past asking how to install Zune Software on your Windows Media Center 2002 edition. Since now the answer was that you can't do it, because Zune only supports the 2005 edition. But Avery Bunker has now the way to do it. This isn't fast and easy but I hope it works for the MCE 2004 also. EDIT: a v2 installation guide exists!...
In a few words MCE 2002 misses some files available in Windows Media Player 11. So you'll need to install WMP11 and then hack the Zune Software from your Zune's CD to disable the detection of the non-supported Windows environment.
Avery's tutorial (or maybe we should call it a small book?!) explains everything and guides you step by step through the process. Let us know if it works for you. EDIT: Zune Software v2 installation Guide on MCE Outdated guide for v1: Download the MCE 2002 Installation guide (By Avery Bunker, PDF, 80p, 5.6 MB) More on it21-nurv.com
