MSN music is off, go Zune! Print E-mail
Written by Kostas Tzounopoulos

MSN logoMicrosoft announced MSN music will discontinue its services. It prompts the existing users to go with Zune or the Real's rhapsody. One small step (backwards) for Plays For Sure, one big step (forwards) for Zune! It closes on November 14th. Wait this date sounds familiar...

"Beginning November 14th, 2006, MSN will no longer offer music downloads through the MSN Music store. The "Buy" buttons that you are used to seeing on the MSN Music album and artist pages will change to links that connect you to Zune and Real Rhapsody."

Microsoft seems to focus on Zune and likes us to know. They close MSN music the same day the Zune will be launching, Nov 14th! The site will not stop supporting its users. This means people that have bought DRM music, will keep using it even when the MSN is not around, 2 years later its opening in 2004.

"MSN will partner with the Zune team to make it simple for MSN Music users to find and download music from the new Zune Marketplace".

There are some good news also: "All of the "MSN Music Presents..." concerts are available on-demand and free-of-charge. We've already featured performances by John Legend and Rod Stewart and we have many more great shows lined up for the next year."

You can read the rest details here.
