As ZuneScene learned from a source inside Microsoft, the hard disc model, codename Scorpio, of the new Zune has some problems and its production will be delayed for a few weeks. On the other hand the flash memory based, Draco, went into production in July 23. And Microsoft hasn't yet announced anything, not even the existence of these...
From ZuneScene : According to our source (from inside Microsoft) Draco production began July 23 as scheduled. Scorpio ran into trouble and production was delayed. A significant percentage of the hard drive based Scorpio units were experiencing continuity problems between the flex cable and pcb. In other words, a wire was coming loose. Our source went on to explain how there were emergency meetings and a new flex cable design will be implemented. The new cable will have a "S" shape (not a folded accordion shape). It should prevent tension build up during assembly and solve the problem.
As you can see even mythical, announced devices can have problems Seriously don't you think its time for Microsoft to disclose some more details about the new Zune versions? What we only know for sure is what Robbie Bach (re)announced yesterday on Microsoft's Financial Meeting and there weren't much of them anyway.
