Universal now is after iPod Print E-mail

Doug Morris of Universal Music Group 2 weeks ago said: "These devices are just repositories for stolen music, and they all know it. So it's time to get paid for it". So now its iPod's time for a similar pay-per-sale deal like Zune...

In early 2007 negotiations with Apple, UMG will try to get a fee from Apple but maybe in a different way:

"It would be a nice idea. We have a negotiation coming up not too far. I don't see why we wouldn't do that... but maybe not in the same way," he told the Reuters Media Summit (in New York today), when asked if Universal would negotiate a royalty fee for the iPod that would be similar to Microsoft's Zune. "The Zune (deal) was an amazingly interesting exercise, to end up with a piece of technology," he added.

Like Robin Hood the poor UMG is trying so hard to take the money back from those iPod users thieves also. We hope you succeed.

Doug Morris

"You can see there are myriad streams of income starting to come into the record companies," said  Morris. "We're going to make money from MySpace, we're going to make money from YouTube, we're going to make money from Zune...we will make tremendous amount of money from telephones."
