Take a look of this screenshot below showing Zune Software running on Linux. In fact I use VMware to run Windows Vista on top of Linux, to make possible running Zune Software. And some cube magic added by beryl...
When using VMware 5 you should use only 1.1 USB ports or unload the USB 2.0 module driver from the Linux kernel. If you don't do it, Windows XP crash and Vista will show Zune as connected but the Zune Software won't recognize it. Do it with this command:
sudo rmmod ehci_hcd
