Vixy.net online flv video conversion Print E-mail

VixyVixy.net is an online service for trancoding FLV videos from YouTube or direct links. It supports as output format avi, mov, mp4 and 3gp (and mp3 for audio only). As you can see there is no wmv, so for Zune the next best thing is mp4 and then transcoding...

This service allows you convert a Flash Video / FLV file (Youtube's movie, etc) to MPEG4 (AVI/MOV/MP4/MP3/3GP) file online. It is using a compressed domain transcoder technology (outline in Japanese). It converts FLV to MPEG4 more faster and losslessy than a typical transcoder.

When you submit an url, it will download and convert to the video format. Then you can download the converted file.

FLV to MPEG4 Conveter engine is now OpenSource. You can download the source code via subversion: http://sourceforge.net/svn/?group_id=183657

If you plan to use this service for Zune, you should choose mp4 which can then be transcoded to Zune-wmv by the Zune Sofware.

Visit Vixy.net

EDIT: after syncing some videos on my Zune from Vixy, all were flickering. So I wouldn't recommend it for now.

Problem converting
written by rene volpi, March 12, 2007
Today I got this message, can you please tell me what it means? Error: URL resolve error. (YouTube.com is down??)

I am working with Windows XP,SP 2 home edition with plenty of memory.
I stay away fro IE, so i use Firefox or Opera which I prefer.
My problem is that even if the message above doesn't show up, it is impossible to convert the file/s that I copied from the URL from youtube. I followed every step as prescribed. What am I missing ?
I also tried to see if there was a patch i could be needing. System says no, i'm up to date. (?????) smilies/shocked.gif smilies/sad.gif

Perhaps a bit late... but when you get that error (or a variety of others), just keep trying. These errors seem common, but usually 2 or 3 attempts seems to resolve them.

I've also come across an annoying problem where only a fragment of the video downloads, yet there are no error messages. Repeating the download generally seems to fix this.

More annoying is the flicker and other artifacts in most of the converted videos, but only when played with Zune. They all work fine with Quicktime. This problem hasn't been fixed in the latest Zune software.
