Wal-Mart since Tuesday is the new big player in online video services. Unfortunately it uses the Windows Media 10 DRM system (PlaysForSure) which makes its videos unsupported for the Zune, iPod and PSP players. The new service sells TV series episodes for $1.96 and movies for variable prices...
Wal-Mart site uses its own downloader for the videos and it looks its only compatible with Internet Explorer. Check it with FIrefox and you'll see what I mean! You will need a Windows PC (no Mac or Linux support) with Windows Media Player 10 or later and .NET 1.1 or later installed. The service is only available in the 50 states of US and Washington D.C. and you can pay using a credit or debit card. The services has a "PC Format" available which can be played unlimited times on only one PC and a "portable format" which can be downloaded to that only PC and get synced with up to 3 devices. There is also a PC and Portable bundle which includes both and an "E-copy" when you buy a DVD and its digital copy. Find more on Wal-Mart video service . EDIT: Read also an interview of Kevin Swift , Divisional Merchandise Manager, digital media Wal-Mart who says he would like to support Zune and other systems, but thats the way it is with DRM now.
