Zune Flash Memory Players Print E-mail
Written by Kostas Tzounopoulos
Sunday, 14 January 2007
According to Bryan Lee, corporate vice present for Microsoft's entertainment business, Zune will get some Flash Memory brothers. He also commented the 3 days or 3 plays feature of the Wifi is on for review. Microsoft will talk again soon with the music industry about this...

On a question why Zune uses a different Software and not the WMP, Lee answered thats because Zune will get 1-2 Software and Hardware updates every year. Talking about the hardware updates he said a flash memory Zune will be released in the future (not mentioning when)!

In another comment he said the 3 days / 3 plays features will be discussed again these days with music providers. It is on Zune for review purposes and it can change towards a sweet spot"between content restrictions and consumer convenience.

"We went to them when we started up with the Zune and said, 'We can do this to you, or we can do this with you. We want to do it with you,'" Lee said.

(Am I the only one who takes "We can do this to you" as a threat? Smile)

He also said the "you can keep a non-DRM track sent via Wifi from another Zune for 3 days or listen to it 3 times whichever comes first"  is there to make the product simpler. I hope he means when it comes to implementation, because the "if someone sends a non-DRM track to you, its yours to keep" sounds simpler. Smile
