Zune Features:

  • Colors: Zune is released in black, white, brown and pink colors, each combined with a distinctive double-shot finish created by the overlay of one color on another.
  • 30 GB Hard Disk: 7,500 songs, 25,000 pictures or 100 hours of video. You can make playlists on the go and watch a slide show while you're listening.
  • Wireless Network: Wifi (wLan) 802.11b/g. At the beginning the Zunes will be able ONLY to share media with another Zune device. They won't be able to connect to Wifi enabled computers for syncing or Wireless Hotspots to download music from the Internet or the Zune Marketplace (software). Users also are able to share music files with other Zune devices but the receiver can ONLY keep the song for 3 days or play the song 3 times (3 days 3 plays, 3d3p) whichever of the two comes first. But info on that file still remain on the device in case the owner wants to buy it.Recipients cannot resend music that they have received via the sharing feature. The 3d3p does not apply to pictures. There are no official information if this applies for Video or any other files. You can make playlists on the go and watch a slide show while you’re listening.
  • FM-Tuner: You can listen to radio on Zune. To see song information, like the name, stations must broadcast a Radio Broadcast Data Standards (RBDS) signal.
  • Baterry type & life: Built-in Li-Ion rechargeable baterry capable to support Zune playing music for 12 hours kai video for 3 hours.
  • Syncing PC Software: Available only for Windows. Users can send and get files from a computer to the device. It also provides some trancoding features. For example high-res video that cannot be played on Zune, get converted to a compatible format (wmv 320x240). When syncing doesn't apply the 3d3p feature. Of course the device cannot play DRM files purchased anywhere else than the Zune Marketplace but can play all the compatible-codec non-DRM files.
  • Syncing USB cable (PC & Xbox):  Users can connect the device to computers for syncing but also to Xbox to stream music, pictures and videos using USB 2.0.
  • 3 inch display: 320x240 LCD screen that works in portrait or landscape mode to view pictures or videos.
  • Codecs: Audio: MP3, AAC and WMA files. Video: WMV, H.264, MPEG4, 320x240. Photos: JPG.
  • Earphones: With small magnets on their back so they can stick together.
  • Zune Marketplace: You can use it to buy your songs one by one ($0.99 or 79 Live Points) or with a Zune Pass subscription for unlimited downloads for $14.99 per month. You can select among 2 million songs available.
  • Updates: Zune can be updated from the internet easily. The Zune software on the PC will let you know when updates are available for download (only on Win XP SP2).
